ACTED was founded in 1993 to provide support to vulnerable populations severely affected by armed conflict, natural disasters or social and economic crises, and to help improve their livelihood opportunities. ACTED's activities are organized around three main areas: emergency relief (access to water, food security, shelter, sanitation and protection), recovery (education, health, community infrastructure, livelihoods) and sustainable development. .
